About
Cordelia Wilson is a multi-talented coloratura soprano. She majored in Music Performance at Ithaca College with an outside field" in Theatre. Through this unique degree path, she was able to study multiple, interconnected artistic disciplines of her choice, such as directing, vocal pedagogy, music education, theatre management, costume design, & set design. For her senior recital, Ms. Wilson presented a program of opera scenes performed by her peers, which she programmed, cast, directed, produced, and costumed entirely on her own. On the same program, she also performed Despina’s aria from Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte.
Ms. Wilson made her operatic debut as a chorus member in Opera Ithaca’s production of Ruggero Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci under the baton of Maestro Thomas Bagwell. Her most recent performance with Opera Ithaca was in Caccini’s La Librazione, doubling as multiple characters within the piece. Some of her other credits with the company include Pirates of Penzance, Tosca, and Carmen. Most recently, Ms. Wilson joined the chorus for the NJ Festival Orchestra’s production of Pagliacci.
To further her education, Ms. Wilson also attended Music Academy International’s young artist program in Italy. She performed her first operatic role that summer at the Trentino Music Festival as La Chouette & Une Pastour in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortileges.
On the concert stage, Ms. Wilson performed many times with the Ithaca College Chorus & Treble Chorale throughout her studies there. Ms. Wilson also performed Mademoiselle Silberklang’s aria from Der Schauspieldirektor on a recital at Ithaca College. She has also performed in several concerts with the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers, including their first concert at the Kennedy Center, and continues to perform with a number of local choirs.
Ms. Wilson is continuing to grow her experience as a singer and director.
